A battling win
By Andy Ryan.

A delightful curler into the top corner and a screamer from Jake Eaton put us firmly in charge in this match, we continued to dominate with some passing moves including more than half the team and leading to chances that should really have put us out of sight by the time the Ref blew for half-time. When it was pointed out that he had only played 35 instead of 40 minutes the restart lead us to lose concentration and they scored a sloppy goal to put them back in it.

After half-time they continued to press with our defence playing superbly, makeshift central defender Ashley Mersh had a tremendous battle with their speedy forward line and Jamie Murr was outstanding in goal. Two saves in particular deserve a mention: A full-length dive to his left to tip a drive round the post in the first half and a finger-tip save to push a curler from 10 yards out in the second were magical.

Despite our best efforts they pulled level after an hour and whilst they tried their hardest to score a winner we hit them on the break when Iggy and Selfy worked a throw-in into the area where George pounced and knocked it in at the near post. 5 minutes later the same two replicated the move whereupon George was fouled in the area to give Iggy a chance from the spot to win it (I'll say no more Iggy!).

We hung on with some superb defending with Sibbo clearing off the line and making a great last-ditch challenge to save another chance. Adam, Ash, Mack, Tom and Michael....well done.

Well done everyone, we were a different team to the one that didn't turn up at Collingham.
