First 20 mins was spot on. Back four working well together. Ryan and Kane winning everything in the air in a difficult wind. Harry in his comeback game after injury looking the complete player at left back. Swifty struggling a bit against a skilful, pacey winger, but still getting in his fair share of tackles. Sean confidently dealing with an array of balls sent into the box wind assisted. Midfield winning ball and getting it forward to the front two and creating several chances that we couldn’t quite stick away. Then, one ball over the top and 1-0 to Cotgrave. Heads dropped and 3 more followed before half time.
Continued second half with Cotgrave running the show. We scored a couple of goals, first a good nearpost header from a Will corner by Matt Evans and a neatly converted penalty from Will, himself on the receiving end of a hefty tackle. The rest was Cotgrave scoring at will with some good finishing and interplay. 8-2 final score.
We are lacking in confidence, with heads going down as soon as things start to go wrong. Wheres the old Tigers never say die. OK we need a win, but you have to earn that. Theres lots of energy being used as individuals but not as a team. With Alex and John not playing, we needed someone to take control and and fire everyone up. No one did. We will talk on Tuesday at training, and with everyone there, try to work it out as a team. Only 7 players there last week. We can’t put things right if only half the team turn up.
We are back in the league against Rainworth Welfare Tigers. Their kick off time is 11.30. Lets plot together, how we can get that win and be top tigers. We have the same players as last season, apart from Fergi, and the new lads are all good ball playing footballers, so nothing should be different to the team that finished 4th last year.
Lets use those frustrations felt by players and parent alike to pull us closer together as a team and show everyone the performances that we can produce.
Man of the match for his saves and never giving up, Sean Grosse. Lets make sure Sean doesn’t get that award again, because it means that he is getting too much to do |
