A last second wonder strike from Sam Buchan earned Tigers a point they hardly deserved in this top of the table clash away at East Bridgford.
Whether it was the unusually early kick off time, the cold conditions or the reorganisation of the team caused by the loss of Sam Newton this was the worst performace of the season against a team we had previously comfortably beaten 3-1 in the cup. Today however, East Bridgford were a different proposition and it would be fair to say that they passed Tigers off the park. Tigers battled hard but just couldn't seem to string more than 2 passes together. Too many players today appeared to have forgotten what has taken Tigers to the top of the league and were guilty of trying to dribble past the entire opposition when easy passes were available.
Fortunately Harry was outstanding in goal making a string of fine saves and Charlie Pick was fantastic in defence making a series of great tackles.
Tigers went one down from an excellent headed goal from a corner - a rarity at this level. Tigers equalised after a great pass from Sam Buchan put Sam Pick through on goal and he calmly drew the keeper and tucked ball into the bottom corner.
With just few minutes remaining East Bridgford went ahead again with a fantastic long range effort into the top corner. However, in the dying seconds Tigers were awarded a free kick 20 yards out. Facing a packed penalty area Sam Buchan fired the ball over everyone's head and into the far top corner with the ball hitting the crossbar and bouncing over the line before boucing out of the goal.
The players went beserk in celebration which showed what not losing meant to them. As soon as East Bridgford took the re-start the final whistle ended the game.
In summary, a point gained rather than two points lost considering the poor performance but the boys never gave in and fought until the final whistle.
